Pull-Up (Band-Assisted)

Loop a band over the bar and rest your knees in it; pull your chin over the bar. Log the band's assistance – less means stronger.

How to do it

Setup

Band looped over the bar, knees or feet resting in it; overhand grip, dead hang.

Steps

  1. Pull the chin over the bar, blades leading.
  2. Control the band's spring on the way down.
  3. Log the band's strength to see progress as it thins.

Common mistakes

Riding the bounce: pause at the bottom, kill the spring. Band forever: step down a thickness when reps hit the top. Chin poking: chest to the bar, not the nose.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale lowering.
