Sit-Up with Chair Assisted
The sit-up with the feet hooked under the lower rung of a chair, which keeps them down through the whole climb to upright.
How to do it
Setup
On your back, knees bent, the feet tucked under a chair's lower rung, arms crossed on the chest.
Steps
- Curl up from the head until the torso is upright.
- Press the insteps up into the rung as you rise.
- Roll back down slowly until the shoulders touch.
Common mistakes
Chair tipping or sliding: use a sturdy chair that cannot tip. Jerking up with the hip flexors: curl the spine one vertebra at a time. Dropping back to the floor: control the whole way down.
Breathing
Exhale sitting up, inhale rolling down.
