Side Lying Chest Stretch
From face down, one arm stays out in a T on the floor while the body rolls away from it onto the side; the weight of the body opens that side of the chest.
How to do it
Setup
Lying face down, one arm straight out to the side at shoulder height, palm down, the other hand under the shoulder.
Steps
- Press with the free hand and roll the body away from the outstretched arm.
- Bend the top leg and set its foot on the floor to hold the roll.
- Hold and breathe, then roll back down and switch sides.
Common mistakes
Rolling too far at once: turn until the chest pulls, then let it settle. Outstretched arm creeping above the shoulder: keep it at shoulder height, palm down. Neck twisted to look up: rest the side of the head on the floor.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
