Standing Alternate Arms Circling Shoulders
Both straight arms swing in big circles past the ears and the hips, half a turn apart; the shoulders warm up through their whole range.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, feet hip-width, one arm raised overhead and the other down by the side.
Steps
- Circle both straight arms at once, one passing the top as the other passes the bottom.
- Keep the trunk still and the circles big and smooth.
- Reverse the direction halfway through the set.
Common mistakes
Arms bending as they tire: keep them long from the shoulder. Twisting the trunk with each swing: brace the middle so only the arms move. Swinging fast through a pinch in the shoulder: slow down and shrink the circle.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
