Ring Kneeling Ab Rollout

The ab rollout on gymnastic rings from the knees: the arms travel forward and up as the body lowers, and the free-swinging rings make the trunk fight to stay straight.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling on a pad facing rings hung low, hands in them on straight arms under the shoulders, hips slightly tucked.

Steps

  1. Let the rings travel forward and up as the hips and chest lower toward the floor.
  2. Stop while the lower back is still flat and the rings are steady.
  3. Press the rings back down and in with straight arms to return.

Common mistakes

Lower back sagging at the far point: shorten the rollout until you can hold the line. Rings drifting apart: squeeze them toward each other the whole way. Sitting back onto the heels to return: the straight arms pull the rings in and the hips follow.

Breathing

Inhale rolling out, exhale pulling back.
