Hanging Straight Twisting Leg Hip Raise
The hanging straight-leg raise turned to one side: the legs rise toward one shoulder and the pelvis curls, sides alternating, so the obliques join the lift.
How to do it
Setup
Dead hang from the bar, hands shoulder-width, shoulders set, legs straight and together.
Steps
- Raise the straight legs toward one shoulder, turning the hips as they rise.
- Curl the pelvis up at the top so the lower back rounds.
- Lower slowly through the middle and rise to the other side next.
Common mistakes
Throwing the legs sideways to reach the side: raise first, then turn under control. Body spinning on the bar: slow down and stop the swing at the bottom. Dropping the legs from the top: lower them as slowly as they rose.
Breathing
Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
