Mid Air Lateral Raises with Switching Palms

Weight-free lateral raises that never rest at the sides, the palms turning over on every rep between half height and shoulder height.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width, arms straight and out from the sides, palms facing forward.

Steps

  1. Raise the straight arms to shoulder height, turning the palms down.
  2. Lower them only halfway, turning the palms forward.
  3. Keep the arms moving between the two heights without resting.

Common mistakes

Letting the arms drop to the sides: stop halfway; the constant tension is the point. Shrugging as the arms rise: keep the shoulders down. Bending the elbows as you tire: keep the arms long or end the set.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
