Machine Standing Lateral Raise
The machine lateral raise done standing, straight arms on the handles of two levers that pivot at shoulder height; the machine fixes the arc.
How to do it
Setup
Standing in the machine, shoulders level with the lever pivots, a handle in each hand at the sides.
Steps
- Raise the straight arms out to the sides to shoulder height.
- Keep the chest up and the feet planted; the levers set the path.
- Lower the handles to the sides without letting the stack rest.
Common mistakes
Shoulders out of line with the pivots: stand so each shoulder sits by its lever's axis. Shrugging the handles up: blades down, then out. Bouncing the stack at the bottom: keep light tension on it between reps.
Breathing
Exhale opening the arms, inhale lowering.
