Lateral Raise with Towel
Side-on to a wall, the bent arm presses a towel into it and slides it up to shoulder height; the push into the wall is the load.
How to do it
Setup
Standing side-on to a wall, a folded towel between the wall and the outside of the bent arm, forearm pointing forward.
Steps
- Press the arm into the towel and slide it up the wall.
- Stop when the upper arm reaches shoulder height.
- Slide it back down, still pressing.
Common mistakes
Easing off the wall: the press is the whole load; keep it. Leaning the body into the wall: stand upright and push with the arm. Shrugging as the arm rises: shoulder down, neck long.
Breathing
Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
