Kneeling Push-Up to Child Pose

A push-up from the knees, then the hips sink back to the heels into Child's Pose before the next rep; the chest works and the back stretches.

How to do it

Setup

On the knees, hands a little wider than the shoulders, body in one line from the knees to the head.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest toward the floor and press back up.
  2. Sink the hips back to the heels, arms long and forehead down.
  3. Shift forward over the hands into the next push-up.

Common mistakes

Hips piking up on the push-up: keep one line from the knees to the head. Elbows flaring wide: keep them about 45° from the body. Rushing through Child's Pose: take a breath there before the next rep.

Breathing

Inhale lowering, exhale pressing up, breathe easy in Child's Pose.
