Dumbbell Press Squat

The goblet squat with a press at the bottom: one dumbbell held upright at the chest is pushed straight out in front and pulled back before standing.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, feet shoulder-width, toes slightly out, one dumbbell held upright at the chest with both hands.

Steps

  1. Squat until the thighs are about level, chest up.
  2. Press the bell straight out in front and pull it back to the chest.
  3. Stand up with the bell at the chest.

Common mistakes

Leaning forward as the bell goes out: brace and keep the chest up; the press tests it. Heels lifting in the squat: sit back until the weight rests mid-foot. Rushing the press to stand sooner: finish it at the bottom, then stand.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing out, inhale bringing it back, exhale standing.
