Burpee Pull-Up

A burpee under the bar: the leap becomes the jump to the bar and a full pull-up, chin over, before dropping into the next rep.

Burpee Pull-Up, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Stand under a pull-up bar you can reach with a small jump.

Steps

  1. Drop through the burpee: plank, push-up, feet in.
  2. Jump up and catch the bar with an overhand grip.
  3. Pull the chin over the bar, then lower to straight arms.
  4. Drop off, land soft and go into the next rep.

Common mistakes

Kipping the pull-up out of the jump: dead hang first, then pull. Bar too high for the jump: a low bar or a box under it. Landing stiff from the drop: knees bend into the catch.

Breathing

Exhale on the push-up, exhale on the pull.
