Dumbbell Burpee

Hands on the dumbbells: kick back, chest to the floor, feet in and stand up with the bells like a deadlift; no leap.

How to do it

Setup

Two dumbbells on the floor shoulder-width, hex bells if you have them.

Steps

  1. Grip the dumbbells and kick the feet back to a plank on them.
  2. Lower the chest to the floor between the bells and push up.
  3. Jump the feet in, hips low.
  4. Stand up with the dumbbells like a deadlift; no leap.

Common mistakes

Round bells rolling: hex dumbbells or a lighter, steadier pair. Standing up with a rounded back: hips low, chest up before you rise. Jumping with the bells in hand: this variation ends standing.

Breathing

Exhale on the push-up and on the stand.
