Isometric Wrist Extension

A static hold: the free hand presses down on the back of the working hand while that wrist pushes up against it, and nothing moves.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling at a bench, working forearm flat on it palm down, the other hand over its knuckles.

Steps

  1. Press the back of the hand up into the other hand.
  2. Keep the push steady; neither hand moves.
  3. Hold and breathe; time it.
  4. Switch hands for the next hold.

Common mistakes

Pushing in jerks: build the effort smoothly and keep it even. Holding the breath: breathe through the hold. Wrist bending under the push: the joint stays straight; press less hard.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
