Dumbbell Preacher Curl (Turned Torso)

A one-arm preacher curl seated sideways to the bench, the torso turned so the working arm lies across the pad at an angle.

How to do it

Setup

Seated sideways at the preacher bench, torso turned toward the pad, working arm laid across it, free hand on the pad.

Steps

  1. Curl the bell up toward the face, the arm flat across the pad.
  2. Hold the torso turned and still.
  3. Lower slowly; switch sides after the set.

Common mistakes

Torso untwisting to help the rep: the turn is the setup; hold it. Armpit off the pad's edge: slide in until the arm lies flat. Dropping into the stretch: slow the last inch.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
