Dumbbell Standing One-Arm Curl (Over Incline Bench)
Standing behind an incline bench with the upper arm draped over the top of its backrest, curl one dumbbell; the backrest works as a preacher pad.
How to do it
Setup
Standing behind a steep incline bench, the back of the upper arm on the top of the backrest, dumbbell hanging, free hand on the bench.
Steps
- Curl the bell toward the shoulder, the upper arm pressed into the backrest.
- Stop before the forearm passes vertical.
- Lower slowly to a nearly straight arm; switch arms after the set.
Common mistakes
Armpit hooked on a hard edge: pad the top of the backrest or lower it so the arm lies flat. Dropping into the bottom: a fully straight arm on a pad is the risky spot, so slow down there. Leaning the body over to finish: stand still and let the arm work.
Breathing
Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
