Dumbbell Standing Concentration Curl

Standing bent forward at the hips, the working arm hanging straight down under the shoulder; curl the bell toward the face with nothing to brace against.

How to do it

Setup

Feet wide, knees soft, hinged forward until the torso is near parallel, free hand on the thigh, bell hanging straight down.

Steps

  1. Curl the bell up toward the face, upper arm vertical.
  2. Squeeze hard at the top.
  3. Lower to a straight arm; switch arms after the set.

Common mistakes

Rounding the lower back in the lean: hinge at the hips, back flat, and lean on the free hand. Upper arm swinging back to lift: it hangs still. Rising out of the hinge as the set gets hard: stay down.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
