Dumbbell Standing Preacher Curl

A one-arm dumbbell curl standing at a stand-up preacher pad, the upper arm draped down its face.

How to do it

Setup

Standing behind a stand-up preacher pad, one upper arm down its face, dumbbell hanging, feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Curl the bell toward the shoulder, arm pressed to the pad.
  2. Stop before the forearm tips past vertical.
  3. Lower slowly; finish the set, then switch arms.

Common mistakes

Leaning the whole body over the pad to lift: stand still, the arm works. Elbow creeping off the pad at the top: keep it planted. Rushing the bottom: a slow finish protects the elbow.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
