Cable Incline Y Raise Wrist Straps with Back Support

The incline-bench cable Y raise with cuffs on the wrists instead of handles, so the hands stay closed but loose and the grip drops out of the lift.

How to do it

Setup

Back on an incline bench between two low pulleys, cables crossed, a cuff strapped round each wrist, fists at the hips.

Steps

  1. Sweep both arms up and out into a Y overhead, led by the wrists.
  2. Keep the hands relaxed and the upper back on the pad.
  3. Bring the wrists back down to the hips under control.

Common mistakes

Cuffs sliding up the forearms: strap them snug just above the hands. Shrugging as the arms pass the head: shoulders down. Arching off the pad at the top: ribs down; stop where the back stays.

Breathing

Exhale sweeping up, inhale lowering.
