Cable Incline Single-Arm Y Raise with Back Support

The incline-bench cable Y raise one arm at a time: the cable comes across the body from the far low pulley and the working arm sweeps up into half a Y.

How to do it

Setup

Back on an incline bench, the handle's cable crossing the body from the far low pulley, the free arm across the belly.

Steps

  1. Sweep the straight arm up and out until it points overhead on its own side.
  2. Keep the free arm and the torso still on the pad.
  3. Lower the handle back across the body; switch sides after the set.

Common mistakes

Twisting off the pad toward the working side: both shoulders stay on it. Shrugging at the top: shoulder down, neck long. Swinging the handle up from the hip: start each rep from a still arm.

Breathing

Exhale sweeping up, inhale lowering.
