Assisted Commando Pull-Up

The commando pull-up with the knees resting on a bench behind, the legs pushing only as much as the arms need; the way into commando pull-ups.

How to do it

Setup

Side-on under the bar, hands close one in front of the other, a bench behind with the knees resting on it.

Steps

  1. Pull the head up to one side of the bar, knees helping lightly.
  2. Lower to straight arms.
  3. Pull to the other side of the bar on the next rep.

Common mistakes

Pushing the whole way with the knees: the arms pull; the bench only helps. Bench set so the arms cannot straighten: move it until they hang long. Head passing the same side every time: alternate.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale lowering.
