Underhand-Grip Inverted Back Row
The inverted row with the palms facing you on the bar; the underhand grip keeps the elbows close and brings the biceps in.
How to do it
Setup
Hanging under a bar at hip height, hands underhand about shoulder-width, heels on the floor, body one straight line.
Steps
- Pull the chest to the bar, elbows close to the ribs.
- Squeeze the shoulder blades at the top with the hips in line.
- Lower to straight arms under control.
Common mistakes
Elbows flaring: the underhand grip keeps them by the ribs; let it. Hips sagging: squeeze the glutes and brace. Craning the neck toward the bar: keep the head in line and bring the chest up.
Breathing
Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
