Alternating Step Out
Tap one foot out to the side and back, then the other, hands at the chest; a gentle warm-up step with no jumping.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, feet together, hands clasped at the chest.
Steps
- Step one foot out to the side and touch down lightly.
- Bring it back under the hips.
- Repeat to the other side in an even rhythm.
Common mistakes
Leaning toward the stepping foot: the torso stays over the standing leg. Locking the standing knee: keep it soft. Stepping so wide the hips drop: a hip-width tap is enough.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
