Adduction of Arm in Back Stretch

One arm behind the back, the other hand draws its wrist across toward the far hip; the side of the shoulder stretches.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, one arm behind the back, the other hand holding its wrist.

Steps

  1. Draw the wrist across the back toward the other side.
  2. Keep the shoulders level and the chest open.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch arms.

Common mistakes

Jerking the arm across: draw it slowly and stop at a pull. Leaning toward the pulling hand: stand tall; only the arm travels. Shoulder hitching up: let it sink first.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
