Bodyweight Standing Around World Wall Supported

Back against a wall, the straight arms sweep from the sides up overhead and down again, staying close to the wall; a mobility drill in reps.

How to do it

Setup

Back, head and hips against the wall, arms straight and low at the sides, palms forward.

Steps

  1. Sweep the straight arms out to the sides and up until they point overhead.
  2. Keep the arms near the wall and the lower back on it.
  3. Lower the arms along the same wide arc to the sides.

Common mistakes

Lower back arching off the wall as the arms go up: stop where it would lift. Arms drifting forward off the wall: shorten the arc rather than lose the wall. Shrugging at the top: shoulders down, neck long.

Breathing

Exhale sweeping up, inhale lowering.
