Wrist Radial Deviator and Extensor Stretch

Kneeling on the backs of the hands with the fingertips turned in toward each other, the hips sink back to stretch the wrist extensors on the thumb side; held for time.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling, the backs of the hands on the floor in front of the knees, wrists bent, fingertips turned in toward each other, elbows straight.

Steps

  1. Turn the backs of the hands until the fingertips point at each other.
  2. Ease back until the stretch runs along the back of the forearm toward the thumb.
  3. Hold and breathe, then lean forward over the hands to come out.

Common mistakes

Fingertips drifting forward: keep them turned in, or it is the plain extensor stretch. Elbows bending: straight arms carry the stretch. Sitting back into pain: stop where the stretch is strong but calm.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
