Weighted Backpack Walking
Walking with a loaded backpack, known as rucking: a plain walk made harder by the weight on the back.
How to do it
Setup
Backpack loaded and strapped high and tight on the back, standing tall.
Steps
- Walk at a brisk, even pace, the arms swinging naturally.
- Keep the chest up and the shoulders back under the straps.
- Take the pack off with bent knees at the end.
Common mistakes
Leaning forward under the load: stand tall and tighten the straps so the pack rides high. Pack swinging loose: cinch the straps until it moves with you. Starting too heavy: build the load and the distance gradually.
Breathing
Steady throughout the walk.
