Short Stride Run
Running with short, quick steps that land right under the hips; a drill for cadence and a light, quiet footstrike.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, arms bent at the sides, weight slightly forward.
Steps
- Run with steps barely longer than a foot.
- Land on the midfoot under the hips and push off quickly.
- Swing the arms short and fast with the legs.
Common mistakes
Strides creeping longer with fatigue: keep them short. Bouncing up and down: the energy goes forward, not up. Slapping the feet down: land softly and quietly.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
