Weighted Backpack Running
Running with a loaded backpack; the weight on the back makes every stride and every landing work harder.
How to do it
Setup
Light backpack strapped high and tight so it cannot bounce, standing tall.
Steps
- Run at an easy pace with short, quick strides.
- Land softly under the hips, not out in front.
- Keep the arms pumping and the trunk upright.
Common mistakes
Pack bouncing on the back: tighten the straps until it moves with you. Long, heavy strides: shorten them; the load multiplies every landing. Leaning forward from the waist: run tall with the chest up.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
