Warming-Up in Lunge (Two)

A knee-down low lunge with only the arm on the back-leg side reaching overhead, which adds a side stretch to the front of the back hip.

How to do it

Setup

Low lunge, back knee on the floor, front knee over the ankle, the other hand resting on the front thigh.

Steps

  1. Reach the arm on the back-leg side straight up overhead.
  2. Sink the hips forward and lengthen up through that arm.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Leaning the whole trunk to the side: grow tall first, then reach. Lower back sagging as the hips sink: tuck the tail slightly. Pushing on the front thigh: the hand only rests.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
