Child to Cobra Pose
Flow from Child's Pose forward into Cobra and back again; the spine travels from a long rounded stretch to an arch.
How to do it
Setup
Child's Pose, knees hip-width, arms reaching forward on the floor.
Steps
- Slide forward over the hands until the hips and thighs rest on the floor.
- Press into the hands and lift the chest into Cobra, elbows soft and shoulders down.
- Push the hips back to the heels and keep flowing between the two.
Common mistakes
Throwing the head back in Cobra: lift the chest and keep the neck long. Locking the elbows to rise higher: stop where the lower back stays easy. Rushing between the ends: move at the pace of the breath.
Breathing
Inhale into Cobra, exhale back to the heels.
