Warming-Up in Lunge (One)
A knee-down low lunge held with both arms straight overhead and the hands clasped, the hips sinking forward to open the front of the back hip.
How to do it
Setup
Low lunge, back knee on the floor, front knee over the ankle, arms straight overhead with the hands clasped.
Steps
- Sink the hips forward until the front of the back hip stretches.
- Reach the clasped hands up and keep the chest tall.
- Hold and breathe, then switch legs.
Common mistakes
Arching the lower back to reach higher: draw the ribs down and tuck the tail slightly. Front knee drifting past the toes: slide the front foot further out. Shoulders hunched to the ears: reach up through the arms, the shoulders down.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
