Warming-Up in Lunge (Three)

A knee-down low lunge opened into a twist: the arm on the back-leg side reaches up while the other hand rests on the front knee.

How to do it

Setup

Low lunge, back knee on the floor, front knee over the ankle, torso upright.

Steps

  1. Rest one hand on the front knee.
  2. Reach the arm on the back-leg side up and turn the chest toward it.
  3. Hold and breathe, then unwind and switch sides.

Common mistakes

Twisting from the neck: turn the ribs; the head follows last. Front knee pulled in by the hand: keep it over the ankle. Hips drifting back as you turn: keep them forward over the back knee.

Breathing

Exhale into the turn, then breathe evenly in the hold.
