Twist Push-Up
An archer-style push-up with the straight arm resting on a bench; the chest lowers and turns toward the floor hand.
How to do it
Setup
Push-up position beside a flat bench, one arm straight along its top, the other hand on the floor under the shoulder.
Steps
- Bend the floor arm and lower the chest toward that hand, turning toward it.
- Keep the bench arm long; it only steadies.
- Press back up and square the shoulders; switch sides after the set.
Common mistakes
Hips rolling with the chest: the turn is in the upper back; the hips face the floor. Pushing with the bench arm: it lies on the pad as a guide, not a lever. Floor hand set too wide: place it under the shoulder so the elbow tracks back.
Breathing
Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
