Tuck-Up

The V-up with bent knees: from lying long, fold the knees and the chest together and wrap the arms around the shins, balanced on the seat.

How to do it

Setup

Lying long on your back, arms overhead, legs straight and just off the floor.

Steps

  1. Draw the knees to the chest as the torso curls up to meet them.
  2. Wrap the arms around the shins and balance on the seat for a beat.
  3. Unfold slowly back to lying long, the heels hovering.

Common mistakes

Rocking back onto the shoulders at the top: stop balanced on the seat. Collapsing flat between reps: unfold under control and keep the heels hovering. Pulling the knees in with the hands: the abs close the tuck, and the arms only wrap.

Breathing

Exhale on the tuck, inhale extending.
