Single Dumbbell Decline Overhead Sit-Up
The decline sit-up with one dumbbell gripped by its ends in both hands, carried overhead from the bottom of the slope to upright.
How to do it
Setup
Feet hooked on a decline bench, lying back, one dumbbell held by both ends overhead, arms straight beside the ears.
Steps
- Curl up, the bell and the arms rising as one with the head.
- Sit upright with the bell held high above the head.
- Lower down the bench, the arms never falling behind the ears.
Common mistakes
Bell drifting forward to help you up: it stays over the head, not ahead of it. Elbows bending under the load: lighter bell, locked arms. Crashing down the slope: resist the lowering.
Breathing
Exhale sitting up, inhale rolling down.
