Dumbbell Alternate V-Up
The dumbbell V-up done one leg at a time: the bell held overhead in both hands meets one straight leg above the hips, then the other.
How to do it
Setup
Lying long on your back, one dumbbell held by its ends overhead in straight arms, legs straight.
Steps
- Lift the torso and one straight leg together, bringing the bell to the raised shin.
- Keep the other leg long and just off the floor.
- Lower both slowly and lift the other leg on the next rep.
Common mistakes
Throwing the bell forward to sit up: it travels with the arms, not ahead of them. Bending the lifted knee to meet the bell: keep it straight and reach less far. Lower back arching as you lie back: lower slower and keep the ribs down.
Breathing
Exhale on the fold, inhale lowering.
