Dumbbell Decline Overhead Sit-Up
The decline sit-up holding a dumbbell in each hand, the arms locked overhead in line with the torso from bottom to top.
How to do it
Setup
Feet hooked on a decline bench, lying back, a light dumbbell in each hand, arms straight overhead by the ears.
Steps
- Sit up with the arms fixed beside the ears.
- Stop upright, arms vertical, the bells stacked over the shoulders.
- Lower down the slope with the arms still overhead.
Common mistakes
Swinging the bells forward to get up: the arms move only with the torso. Bells too heavy for the long lever: start light; the arms multiply the load. Arms dropping back past the ears at the bottom: they stay in line with the torso.
Breathing
Exhale sitting up, inhale rolling down.
