Tuck Jump Burpee

A burpee whose leap pulls both knees to the chest in the air; land soft and drop straight into the next rep.

Tuck Jump Burpee, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Stand tall, feet shoulder-width.

Steps

  1. Drop through the burpee: plank, push-up, feet in.
  2. Leap and pull both knees up to the chest.
  3. Land soft on bent knees.
  4. Drop straight into the next rep.

Common mistakes

Rounding forward to meet the knees: the chest stays up; the knees come to it. Stiff landings: the knees bend into the catch. Losing the plank as fatigue builds: shorter set, full reps.

Breathing

Exhale on the push-up and the jump.
