TRX Wide-Grip Inverted Row

The TRX inverted row with the handles pulled wide and the heels up on a bench; the flared elbows shift the work toward the upper back and rear shoulders.

How to do it

Setup

Heels on a bench, body level under the handles, arms straight and angled wide, palms facing the feet.

Steps

  1. Pull the chest up with the elbows traveling wide, out to the sides.
  2. Squeeze the shoulder blades together at the top.
  3. Lower to straight arms, body still level.

Common mistakes

Elbows dropping to the ribs: that is the narrow row; keep them wide. Hips sagging off the bench line: brace the abs and squeeze the glutes. Straps sawing into the forearms: keep the wrists straight and the handles in the palms.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
