Tibial Stretch with Semi-Flexed Knee

The bent-knee calf stretch at a post: the front toes against its base, both knees sink and the back heel stays down, moving the stretch low into the soleus.

How to do it

Setup

Facing a post and holding it, front toes against its base, back foot a short step behind, both feet pointing ahead.

Steps

  1. Bend both knees and sink the hips straight down.
  2. Keep the back heel on the floor until the lower calf stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Back heel popping up as the hips drop: sink less deep, heel planted. Back knee straightening: the bend is what reaches the lower calf; keep it soft. Leaning the chest onto the post: stay upright and let the hips go down.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
