Single Heel Drop Achilles Stretch

Heel sinking off a step with the knee slightly bent; the bend aims the stretch at the Achilles.

How to do it

Setup

Ball of one foot on a step's edge, a hand on the rail.

Steps

  1. Bend the knee a little and keep it bent.
  2. Let the heel sink slowly below the step.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch feet.

Common mistakes

Straightening the knee: the bend keeps the stretch at the Achilles. Bouncing the heel: sink slowly and hold. Letting go of the rail: one foot on an edge needs a hand on something.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
