Knee to Box Calf Stretch

In a split stance with the hands on a box, drive the front knee forward toward the box while that heel stays down, then rock back; the lower calf and the ankle open.

How to do it

Setup

Facing a box, hands on its top, the front foot flat a short step from it, the back foot a stride behind on its toes.

Steps

  1. Bend the front knee and push it forward past the toes toward the box.
  2. Let the hands on the box steady you, the front heel flat.
  3. Rock back and repeat, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Front heel peeling up: shorten the distance to the box until it stays down. Knee caving inward: aim it over the middle toes. Bouncing the knee into the box: slow rocks with a pause at the front.

Breathing

Exhale as the knee travels forward, inhale coming back.
