Standing Heel Back Achilles Stretch

A big step back, the back knee bent and its heel pressed down; the stretch lands in the lower calf and the Achilles.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, one foot a big step behind the other, both toes forward.

Steps

  1. Bend the back knee, heel on the floor.
  2. Sink the hips until the lower calf stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Back toes turning out: point them straight ahead. Heel lifting: shorten the step until it stays down. Leaning the torso forward: stay upright; the hips go down.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
