Swimming Crawl Style
Front crawl in the pool: the arms stroke in turn, pulling the water back past the hips, while the legs flutter and the head turns to breathe.
How to do it
Setup
In the water face down, body long and flat, arms reaching ahead.
Steps
- Pull one arm down and back to the hip while the other reaches forward.
- Recover it over the water and reach forward as the other arm pulls.
- Flutter the legs from the hips and turn the head to the side to breathe.
Common mistakes
Lifting the head forward to breathe: turn it to the side, one ear in the water. Kicking from the knees: long legs, the kick starts at the hip. Arms crossing the center line: reach ahead of each shoulder.
Breathing
Exhale into the water, turn the head to inhale.
