Swimming, illustrated

Swimming

Logged by time or distance; the whole body works with no impact on the joints.

How to do it

Setup

Goggles that seal, a lane or open water you know.

Steps

  1. Swim your stroke with long, relaxed reaches.
  2. Exhale INTO the water between breaths.
  3. Log time or distance.

Common mistakes

Holding the breath underwater: exhale continuously; the turn for air is only an inhale. Fighting the water: long and relaxed beats fast and thrashing. Head high: it sinks the hips; look down.

Breathing

Exhale into the water, rhythmic inhales.
