Strongman Front Hold

A strongman hold: a loaded pin raised on straight arms to shoulder height in front and held there for time.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, both hands on the T-handle of a loaded pin, the plates hanging in front of the thighs.

Steps

  1. Raise the pin on straight arms until the hands are at shoulder height.
  2. Hold it level with the shoulders; time the hold.
  3. Lower it under control once the arms begin to sink.

Common mistakes

Leaning back to keep the weight up: stay stacked with the ribs down. Letting the plates swing: raise and lower slowly. Shrugging the shoulders toward the ears: keep them down and the neck long.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
