Seated Ballerina
Seated cross-legged, the arms move through ballet positions: rounded in front of the belly, lifted into a ring overhead, opened wide to the sides and lowered.
How to do it
Setup
Seated cross-legged on the floor, back tall, the rounded arms in front of the belly, fingertips near each other.
Steps
- Lift the rounded arms up the front into a ring overhead.
- Open them out to the sides at shoulder height, palms out.
- Lower them and bring them back in front of the belly.
Common mistakes
Slumping as the arms rise: sit tall through the whole sequence. Shrugging the shoulders into the ring: blades down, neck long. Rushing the positions: move slowly and pass through each one.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
