Dumbbell Empty Can Exercise
Both arms raised to shoulder height in the plane of the shoulder blades, a little forward of the sides, with the thumbs turned down; a light, strict raise.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, bells at the thighs, arms turned in so the thumbs point down.
Steps
- Raise the straight arms to shoulder height, angled a little forward of the sides.
- Keep the thumbs pointing down all the way up.
- Lower slowly to the thighs.
Common mistakes
Going higher than shoulder level: stop level with the shoulders; the raise ends there. Heavy bells: keep them light enough to hold the thumbs-down turn. Shrugging the shoulders up: blades down, neck long.
Breathing
Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
