Dumbbell Shoulders Complex
Three lifts strung into one rep: a lateral raise, a front raise and an upright row, the bells back at the thighs before each next lift.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, feet hip-width, a light dumbbell in each hand at the sides.
Steps
- Raise the bells out to the sides to shoulder height and lower them.
- Raise them in front of you to shoulder height and lower them to the thighs.
- Pull them up the front of the body to the chest, elbows high, and lower; that is one rep.
Common mistakes
Rushing from one lift into the next: bring the bells back to the thighs between them. Pulling the row higher than the chest: stop with the elbows level with the shoulders. Bells too heavy for the weakest lift: pick what the front raise allows.
Breathing
Exhale on each raise, inhale lowering.
